ACTRI Internships

 

The American Counterterrorism Targeting and Resilience Institute (ACTRI) offers undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to engage in a variety of research projects through its ACTRI internship program. The ACTRI internship program offers students across the nation and globe hands-on experience and training in the areas of data collection, data analysis, research methodology and practitioner engagements in the areas of national and international security. ACTRI interns are also exposed to a professional development and mentorship with experts in the fields of terrorism, counter-terrorism, conflict resolution, law enforcement and preventing/countering violent extremism (P/CVE). ACTRI Interns will also have the opportunity to engage and participate in our ACTRI Security Talks Series.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree program
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience with word, excel, outlook
  • Desired, but not required, experience in data collection and data analysis software (e.g. SPSS, NVivo, OSINT, other)
  • Ability to provide three professional references
  • Ability to dedicate 10-15 hours a week (flexible schedule)

Social Media Intern

We are looking for a motivated Social Media Intern who will help us fulfill this mission by planning and implementing social media strategies and campaigns and supporting our clients with engaging social media content. Join our team and contribute to making real change!

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Ability to create communication strategies
  • Coordinate external and internal communications flow
  • Design sketches of mass media announcements
  • Manage ACTRI social media pages
  • Write content for ACTRI website
  • Assist in relationship building with influencers and key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the marketing team

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree program

ACTRI Research Fellows

 

ACTRI is seeking Research Fellows to support its current and future research projects. The Research Fellow will primarily be responsible for data collection, including analyzing data and collaborating on publication with senior leadership. The role will also allow for professional development and the opportunity to demonstrate independent and collaborative research and scholarship.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s (Junior) and Master’s (Senior) (doctoral preferred) level education in the area relevant to the mission of the organization, such as International Relations, Public Policy, Political Science, Security Studies, Terrorism Studies, etc., and evidence of continuous professional development
  • Proficiency in the application of qualitative and quantitative software (e.g. SPSS, NVivo, OSINT, other) and website development and maintenance, or the desire to learn the same
  • Ability to collect data and synthesize complex data utilizing different sources
  • Demonstrated ability to write authoritatively, including a record of communicating and disseminating research findings through written reports and articles
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team environment
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external partners
  • Ability to develop networks to exchange ideas and influence future research developments
  • Demonstrated interest in international relations and domestic and global safety and security
  • May require some travel both domestically and internationally (if applicable)
  • Note: The position of research fellow is unpaid.
