Stephen Morreale, Ph.D.

Stephen A. Morreale is a Professor and Chair of the Criminal Justice Department at Worcester State University in Massachusetts, USA. Professor Morreale is a second career academic and scholar. Steve served with the U.S. Army Military Police Corps, as a police officer and detective with a New England police agency, and retired as a Special Agent and manager of the Financial Crimes and Asset Forfeiture Section of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. He also served with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Office of Investigations, the Office of Inspector General, and as Assistant Special Agent in Charge serving as Chief of Investigations, focused on Health Care Fraud in the New England region.

In 2001, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Secretary of U.S. Health and Human Services for his role in responding to and leading a team of agents to assist in disaster relief and recovery at the site of the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001.

Professor Morreale worked with the University of Limerick Law School on a team to serve as an external reviewer conducting an academic assessment of training curriculum for An Garda Síochána. He worked on the Serious Crimes Investigation curriculum and with the Criminal Assets Bureau in Dublin on the Criminal Assets curriculum, as well as with the Special Tactics Operations Command on Use of Force curriculum.

Dr. Morreale teaches Border Security and Cybersecurity for Nichols College in the Master of Science in Counterterrorism. He serves as an adjunct faculty member with Roger Williams University in Rhode Island at both the Justice Systems Training and Research Institute and The Leadership Institute, focused on training for police officials at the sergeant and command levels, and public managers for state, county and municipal agencies. Dr. Morreale has research interests in Leadership Development, Organizational Change, Decision-making, and Integrative and Active Learning. Dr. Morreale holds a doctoral degree in Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
