Cecil Jones
Cecil Jones, Boston Police Department (retired), brings 38 years of experience in law enforcement including the last 10 years assigned to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force in Boston.
During his distinguished 38-year career with the Boston Police Department, Cecil started as a police cadet in 1983 and then a police officer in 1987. In 2004, he was assigned as the Commander of the Crime Stoppers Unit, as well as the Director of the Boston Police Department’s seized and covert leased vehicle programs.
Cecil was promoted to Detective in 2007 and was assigned the Major Case Unit at the Suffolk County DA’s Office until 2009. Jones was then assigned to the Bureau of Intelligence and Analysis (BRIC), Homeland Security Unit and detailed to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force where he served as a supervisor until his retirement in January 2021. While assigned to the FBI JTTF, Jones was an integral part of several high-level investigations and operations resulting in disruption of criminal and terrorist actions and plots, as well as several arrest and convictions.
Sergeant Detective Jones’s personal awards and decorations include the following, 2019 Boston Police Department’s Life Saving Award, 2018 National Council of Columbia Assoc. Civil Service Recognition Award, 2017 American Legion’s Massachusetts Law Enforcement Medal of Valor, 2016 Boston Police Departments Detective of the Year Award, Boston Police Department’s Medal of Honor, Mayor of Boston’s Thomas F. Sullivan Award for Exceptional & Outstanding Performance of Duty, Boston Police Relief Memorial Award for Distinguished Service, 2016 Federal Bureau of Investigations FBI Award for Bravery, 2015 Massachusetts Police Associations Medal of Valor, Boston Police Commissioners Commendations for Exemplary Performance of Duty, Boston Police Patrolman’s Association Award of Merit for Outstanding Performance, 2007 Boston Municipal Research Bureau Shattuck Award for Public Service, 2000 American Red Cross Clara Barton Humanitarian of the Year Award, 1994 Boston Police Boston Police Departments Medal of Honor, Mayor of Boston’s Thomas F. Sullivan Award for Exceptional & Outstanding Performance of Duty, Boston Police Relief Memorial Award for Distinguished Service, and 1990 Massachusetts Association of Minority Enforcement Officers Award for Bravery.
Cecil has a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Western New England University, He is also currently an Adjunct Professor at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts at their Van Loan School of Graduate and Professional Studies, Master of Science in Homeland Security Studies Program. He is responsible for the following courses: Intro to Homeland Security, Comparative Homeland Security, Asymmetric Threats to American Homeland, Psychology of Terrorism and U.S. Intelligence Dynamics.
In his free time, Cecil is involved in several community Non-Profit programs, Massachusetts Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation Founder and President (1996 – Present), Operation Progress, Los Angeles\Boston Board Member (2006 – Present), Boston Police Runner’s Club, President, Bunker Hill Associates (2019 – Present), and City of Boston Credit Union Board of Director (2016 – Present). His involvement and leadership in the above-mentioned programs has helped raise millions of dollars to benefit the Boston community.
